]\nMastering Medicines Course\nWhy choose this course?\nOur aim is that ev
ery delegate goes home not only with a better understanding of the medicin
es that they use on farm\, but also some practical steps that they can tak
e on farm to maximize the effectiveness of the medicines that they use and
some key areas where they can take action to reduce the requirement for m
edicine use.\n\nThis course is run as an interactive group session with lo
ts of discussion as we go through the topics and case studies to allow for
further discussion and ensure that all delegates have achieved a good und
erstanding of the course material by the end of the session. We take a sho
rt break for lunch during the session. All the information is summarized i
n a course workbook that is provided for each delegate to take home.\n\n&n
bsp\;\n\nThe Mastering Medicines Course is a Red Tractor approved course o
n the responsible use of medicines. The course aims to increase awareness
of different classes of medicine\, enhance knowledge of how different medi
cines work and how to use them effectively and responsibly as well as unde
rstanding antimicrobial resistance. By increasing awareness and knowledge
we aim to drive the best practice use of medicines on farms.\n\nDuring the
course we go through four major classes of medicine (vaccines\, antibioti
 cs\, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs\, anthelmintics)\, what they do
and when to use them. We will discuss how active herd health planning can
ensure that medicines are used effectively. We also cover the safe and ef
fective administration of medicines and ensuring that you comply with medi
cine legislation and farm assurance requirements for record keeping.\n\nPl

[vc_column_text css=""]“I find this a really rewarding course to lead. O
ften people enroll as a tick box exercise to satisfy farm assurance\, but
by the end of the session everyone is really engaged in the\n\nsubject and
has a selection of practical things that they can put into action on thei
r own farm.\n\nWe often have a real variety of different farms represented
in a group\, from smallholders to sheep\, beef and dairy\, which leads to
really interesting variety of cases to discuss. The nature of the course
means that regardless of the level of prior knowledge or experience everyo
ne can gain something from taking part.\n\nFor dairy farmers it makes a re
ally beneficial course to attend alongside the Milksure course as it cover
 s a different side of medicine use.”\n\nLottie Meire[/vc_column_text][/v
