Approved Tuberculin Tester (ATT) required

Would you like to be part of our progressive, independently owned vet practice that is over 100 years old with exciting expansion plans?

We are looking for an additional ATT to join our TB testing team that currently consists of 3 ATT’s, 2 TB testing vets and 14 farm vets.

Shepton Vets Farm provide veterinary services to over 100 dairy clients (plus beef, sheep and small holdings) throughout Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire.

If you are a qualified ATT looking for a change, then Shepton Vets would like to hear from you.  We have a friendly, supportive team and to add variety to this role, we can offer Vet Tech work alongside TB testing if this interests you.  If you are not currently an ATT, we can provide full ATT training (approx. 4 months duration) to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who has experience working with cattle.  You will be expected to carry out TB testing in accordance with the required standards set out by the APHA.  The successful candidate will have a personable nature, with good communication, written and IT skills and be able to work both on their own and as part of the team.  At times you will be working under pressure, delivering difficult news to clients about their TB status and much valued livestock.

Required

  • GCSE’s in Maths, English and a Science or Food Production with a minimum C grade.
  • 6 months minimum cattle handling experience.
  • To meet the criteria of APHA, the successful applicant will also need to be 18 years old
  • Satisfactory DBS check.

This is a permanent role, working 4 days a week or 5 days a week if you would like to do Vet Tech work on a Wednesday.  Start and finish times will vary depending on test schedules and will include early starts when cows are tested during milking time.

Pay: £25,500 FTE while training, £27,000 FTE once qualified plus a headage bonus.

Small Animal New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon

Shepton Vets is looking for a new graduate to join our friendly team of small animal vets.

You’ll work a 4-day week (plus a supported 1:6-1:8 on-call rota) across both of our well equipped modern branches with in-house endoscopy, laparoscopy and dental radiography facilities. A sensibly managed diary will include 15-30mins consulting appointments plus regular breaks. Weekly ops days will give you the opportunity to get involved with interesting surgeries.

Shepton Vets Farm EMS student opportunities

Shepton Vets Farm are an educational partner of Bristol University. This means that for most of the year we have Bristol vet students doing their farm track rotations with us. Unfortunately, this limits our ability to accept students for EMS placements. There are however, several weeks each year that we do offer EMS placements.

Due to the young age of work experience students, please note our insurance only covers students observing during placements with us.
