Stress free disbudding
We offer a disbudding service that it is stress free for the calf and for the client.
Our vet techs are experienced at disbudding, performing the job safely and efficiently, freeing up your time for other things.
Visits can be scheduled regularly as part of a disbudding round, keeping on top of this task. Alternatively, we can send techs to your farm to disbud batches of calves when needed.
Stress free for the calf –
Our techs safely administer sedative to batches of calves, this “knocks the calves down” meaning there is no need for physical restraint. Calves are also given a local anesthetic nerve block and an anti-inflammatory pain relief. Disbudding calves in this way is almost pain free and gives the fastest possible recovery.
Stress free for the client –
You can leave our techs to get on with the job, techs do not require any help when on farm. A full list of medicines and batch numbers will be left on farm for complete medicine records.

Typically calves will be back on their feet within an hour
What age is it best to disbud calves?
2- 4 weeks. Our techs have disbudding rounds where they visit farms at regular intervals to ensure calves are done at the right age.
I have a lot of calves that need disbudding, will a vet tech be able to manage?
Yes, we send several techs out together when large groups of calves need disbudding.
Can techs check for supernumerary teats while disbudding?
