Vaccination Support

“Farmers can be assured that the calves are vaccinated properly whilst they can focus on other tasks”

Shepton Vet Techs will support you to easily vaccinate your animals at the right time. Shepton’s calf vaccination round offers farmers a weekly visit from a Vet Tech to vaccinate eligible calves with whichever vaccines your herd requires. Vet Techs can also help you with your annual herd boosters and act as Huskvac helpers in the spring.

Vaccination support is lead by Jade Sealey

Calf vaccination round

This popular service is managed by our experienced calf Vet Tech, Jade Sealey. Farmers notice the benefit of a weekly visit as it means calves get vaccinated at the right time. There are no wasted doses of vaccine for the farmer. On many farms, Jade knows where the farm diary is and where the calves are, she gets on with the job without needing to involve the farmer. Or if needed, Jade contacts clients ahead of her visit asking for ear tag numbers of animals to be vaccinated.

Which vaccines can be administered?

Most commonly Jade is administering pneumonia vaccines on her rounds. The most appropriate vaccine is selected by the herd’s vet based on results of disease testing and pneumonia trends on farm. Ringworm vaccines are used on many farms, and these can be given by Jade. Dry cows can be vaccinated to protect calves against scours.

Salmonella and Clostridial vaccines can also be given to herds needing these vaccines.

Huskvac helpers

Shepton Vet Techs can provide an extra pair of hands when clients are lungworm vaccinating in the spring. This is at no cost as we want to support clients to use this important vaccine.

Help with annual herd boosters

Would you benefit from an extra pair of hands when your herd is due its annual BVD, Lepto and IBR boosters?
We can provide Vet Techs to help with this job. We will always do our best to help with vaccinating when needed on the read day of a TB test.

Vaccine reminders

We try to inform our clients when their herd’s booster vaccinations are due. We allow clients to spread the cost of their herd vaccines across the first 3 months of the year.
