“I look after our in-house lab at Shepton, I’m also known as the “Lab Queen”. I ensure the machines are running correctly and carry out quality controls monthly.”
Rapid testing on hand
We are able to run a comprehensive range of biochemistry, haematology, endocrinology and urinalysis tests in house, utilising our specialist lab equipment and technical expertise. Regular quality control and support from the equipment suppliers help us ensure the quality and reliability of our testing. Having these capabilities on site allow us to run tests and get results quickly if needed, to help with your pet’s diagnosis and management in dynamic and high-pressured situations. We also have a close working relationship with an external laboratory, enabling us to run more complex testing and consult with specialist pathologists to help in the investigation of complicated cases.
Lab tests – from sampling to results
From pre-anaesthetic blood tests to cytology on ear swabs to progesterone testing, we are often able to take samples quickly within a consultation or at the patient’s bedside. At the time of sampling the vet or nurse will let you know how soon you can expect to be contacted with results – in some cases this will be on the same day, or it may be that there is a longer turnaround time.
