Sarah Wheadon

Veterinary Surgeon

Sarah qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1990 and has worked exclusively in small animal practice since then. She started her career in Nottingham but fell in love with the West Country since moving here in 1993. She has worked at Shepton Vets since 2001. While interested in all areas of small animal practice, Sarah is passionate about all things feline! She also undertakes acupuncture, mostly for management of chronic pain in older patients.

What do I enjoy most about working at Shepton Vets?

I love the team of people I work with, there is a vibrant family atmosphere at work, and everyone is genuinely enthusiastic about what we do. I have known some of my clients for over 20 years and enjoy building strong bonds with them and their pets. I often say that there is a piece of my heart in this building.

Do I have animals at home?

I currently have one elderly cat around whose comfort our household revolves! I also have a tribe of guinea pigs and a flock of bantams who are all named after female hobbits.

What sets Shepton and Wells vets apart from competitors?

We are a proudly independent practice and have colleagues with expertise in many different areas of small animal practice.

What are my hobbies and interests out of work?

You may see me riding around the countryside on the back of a distinctive green and purple tandem. I also sing Soprano in a local chamber choir. Always a keen baker, I have now ventured into the world of sourdough and am trying to perfect my technique.
