Callum is a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a strong connection to Shepton Vets, having grown up in the local area. He brings enthusiasm and a team-oriented approach to his role. Callum’s early start in the veterinary industry, beginning as a care assistant at just 15, has equipped him with valuable experience and a strong foundation for his career, to work his way up and now excel in his role as Head of the veterinary team.

As Head Veterinary Nurse, Callum’s primary responsibilities involve organising the nursing rota across both of our Shepton and Wells practices to ensure that they run as efficiently as possible, whilst playing a large role in supporting the other members of the nursing team. Callum is passionate about developing our younger members of staff into Qualified Veterinary nurses or care assistants.
Alongside the nursing and management side of the role, Callum also takes care of preparing equipment for advanced surgeries, maintaining dental machines and organising the servicing across both practices.

What do I enjoy most about working at Shepton Vets? 

Working with a great team and seeing a variety of cases.

What am I passionate about?

I am passionate about Shepton vets in all ways! I have essentially grown up here so if I can do my bit to drive Shepton forward then that’s great.

What are my primary responsibilities?

Managing the nursing team, preparing equipment for advanced surgeries, maintaining dental equipment, servicing, making people laugh. 

What accomplishments am I most proud of in your career? 

Qualifying as a nurse by the age of 19 and being within the business from the age of 15.

Can I share any advice or words of wisdom for someone just starting in the field? 

Get your foot in the door early and learn how to make a half decent cup of tea.
