7th March Mastering medicines
The Mastering Medicines Course is a Red Tractor approved course on the responsible use of medicines. The course aims to increase awareness of different classes of medicine, enhance knowledge of how different medicines work and how to use them effectively and responsibly as well as understanding antimicrobial resistance. By increasing awareness and knowledge we aim to drive the best practice use of medicines on farms.
During the course we go through four major classes of medicine (vaccines, antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, anthelmintics), what they do and when to use them. We will discuss how active herd health planning can ensure that medicines are used effectively. We also cover the safe and effective administration of medicines and ensuring that you comply with medicine legislation and farm assurance requirements for record keeping.
