Do you know how your heifers are performing and the average age at first calving, first lactation yield, and survivability of heifers on your farm? Do you know average daily liveweight gain (ADLWG) of your heifers during different growth periods? Do you want to improve these figures? How young is too young to serve and calve in? How do you compare to other UK farms? Shepton farms? On Tuesday the 5th of March we will be holding a discussion group at the Pilton Club on heifer health and performance and setting targets for your farm. Come with an empty stomach (food provided!) and all your questions surrounding heifer rearing and performance. Your heifer calves are your future herd. For more information, speak to one of our vets or contact the farm office to reserve your space. For those new to the Shepton Top Ten, we use real data from our Shepton dairy herds to highlight high performance and explore how you can improve metrics on your farm. We recognise all clients that reach our target, and one farm from each category will be crowned the ‘Shepton Champion’. They will be invited to share with others how they achieved this.
